PNG and JPG: transparency and quality

PNG preserves transparency and suits icons and screenshots. JPG has no transparency; Formatio fills transparent areas with white when exporting JPG. Choose PNG or WEBP to retain a transparent background.

Lower JPG quality can reduce photo size but introduces lossy compression. Converting JPG back to PNG cannot restore lost detail. Start from the original and avoid repeatedly saving the same JPG.

Process and check

Choose the format after adding images, then adjust quality and width in image output settings. Preview edges, text and transparent areas before saving. Browser conversion of animations and multipage TIFF uses only the first frame or main image page.
